QuiltsThe Slope to Shore Quilters Guild has donated 25 quilts to the Lion's Club of Wasaga Beach.

The Slope to Shore Quilters Guild was formed over 13 years ago in Collingwood.  They met in several locations and moved to Wasaga Beach 2 years ago. Funds are donated to their club to purchase material.  They also receive donations from Northcot Silk in Toronto.  Recently, the owner of Maw T’s in Stayner passed away and her daughter donated all the materials from the store to this club so that they can make beautiful works of art for people who are in need.

The Slope to Shore Quilter Guild has donated over 1,000 quilts over their past 13 years. Their quilts have been donated to the local O.P.P. as well as several nursing homes in our area.  This year, after discovering that the Lions have a dialysis camp outside Dorset and quilts were required to keep the patients warm during their dialysis treatment, they selected the camp as their project for this year.

This is currently Lions Camp Dorset Work week where Lioness Sandy Barr and Lion Roger Barr are cooking all week for the volunteers with Lion Martin & Janice Campbell helping out for the busy time over this past weekend.

The quilts were presented to the President Jim Coulson and admin Coordinator Helen Walker who said ”I would like to thank all the ladies that quilted these absolutely beautiful quilts for the patients of the medical center.  They are the perfect size with obviously an awful lot of thought went into the colors and patterns.  I want to thank you all, they are very much appreciated and the patients will love them.”

Lions Camp Dorset has a dialysis unit on site in order to provide guests in renal failure with their dialysis three times a week. It also provides an excellent opportunity to experience the great outdoors; get back to nature; and enjoy a relaxing atmosphere away from the stresses of everyday life. These quilts will keep the patients warm during their dialysis treatment.
