The Wasaga Beach Chamber of Commerce is hosting the Second Annual Wasaga Beach Short Film Festival this fall. The WBSFF is unlike any other film festival, it is a unique opportunity for grass roots film enthusiasts to compete on an even playing field. The WBSFF aims to showcase the best in category short films submitted by individuals, groups, companies, students and associations. Our film festival vision is based on capturing the imagination of filmmakers and actors at the grass roots level creating an opportunity for international exposure while eliminating entry barriers and providing a focus for talent, passion, capability and achievement. We hope to leverage the natural beauty of our location to inspire or participants to produce films that will promote the beauty, vibrancy, vitality and quality of life of Wasaga Beach while honouring its natural ecosystems, visitors, residents and businesses.
The short films to be submitted must be between four and eight minutes in length and are to fit in one of the four categories including: Romance, Action, Documentary and Comedy. Each film entry must contain the name of Wasaga Beach in its title and/or the story of the film must demonstrate that it is taking place in Wasaga Beach, Ontario and/or the shooting location of the Film is in Wasaga Beach, Ontario.
Each of the four categories will be awarded for Best Director; Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor and Best Short Film.
There is also an invitation to submit a 30 second in length video advertisement that will be judged separately for the Best Video Advertisement award for a business located in Wasaga Beach or that serves Wasaga Beach.
The films will be judged online and screened at Wasaga Beach, Ontario scheduled for January 26th , 2013 followed by a Gala Awards Night hosted by the Wasaga Beach Chamber of Commerce.
Wasaga Beach was the first beach in North America to be recognized as a “Blue Flag Beach”, an international award for clean beaches. Over two million people visit Wasaga Beach every summer to stroll the shores of the longest freshwater beach in the world, swim in warm clean waters and enjoy the panoramic Mountain View across the Bay.
We intend to roll out the “Blue Flag Beach” carpet to our film festival partners and participants for our second annual Wasaga Beach Film Festival scheduled for January 26th, 2013.

Here are some positions we would currently like to fill:
Art Community Coordinator and Fundraiser:
We are looking for someone who understands getting grants for the arts community and is willing to spearhead canvassing and fund raising for the festival. This job also involves recruiting local art, music and culture groups to join the Wasaga Beach film festival gala and perform to broaden the event
Film Entries Coordinator:
We are looking for someone who can make connections with all the film schools across Canada and work all channels of social media to recruit more film entrants to our festival. This position also involves encouraging local groups to promote their organizations/associations by submitting a film festival entry in the Documentary category. For example, local art and culture groups in the area can submit a documentary film submission to increase the local arts and cultural profile in the Wasaga Beach area.

This position would be responsible for seeking out corporate sponsors from across Canada and the US that would be willing to support the Wasaga Beach Short Film Festival.
