Downchild is one of several highly respected acts to take the stage for a FREE Concert Series at Stonebridge Town Centre in Wasaga Beach. 

Chuck Jackson, arguably Canada's most well known and respected blues singers is going to be really busy at Wasaga Beach Blues, which takes place from Aug. 24 to 26 at the Stonebridge Town Centre. Not only is the lead singer of the Legendary Downchild Blues Band, he is also the festival’s musical director. Downchild will be performing here in Wasaga Beach at the Stonebridge Town Centre on August 25th, 2012 at 5:30 p.m. You do not want to miss this!

Downchild Blues Band features guitarist Donnie Walsh, harp player and vocalist Chuck Jackson, keyboardist Michael Fonfara, saxophonist Pat Carey, bassist Gary Kendall and drummer Mike Fitzpatrick.

Donnie Walsh who is affectionately know as "Mr. Downchild" is featured in the prestigious Canadian Blues Museum Hall of Fame.

Awards abound for this band - as individuals, and as a group.

Chuck Jackson was awarded the 2007 Male Vocalist of the Year, Maple Blues Awards, 2002 Blues With A Feeling Award, Maple Blues Awards (Lifetime Achievement!) - to name but a few. Downchild Blues Band has won Entertainer of the Year and Blues Band of the Year at Maple Blues Awards as well Canada's top honours, a Juno Award for “Best Roots and Traditional Album” for 1991. It was perhaps most famously performed by none other than the Blues Brothers (John Belushi and Dan Ackroyd of Saturday Night Live fame). Downchild's version of the Big Joe Turner song ""Flip, Flop and Fly" gained international attention and was a huge hit for the band.

Chuck Jackson will also be performing with The Maple Blues Revue. Jackson is a Festivals and Events Ontario Hall of Fame inductee, the founder and artistic director of the Tim Horton’s Southside Shuffle Blues and Jazz Festival in Mississauga brings a wealth of knowledge and passion to the second annual festival. "After all the great years I spent with my family vacationing and later performing at the Beach, this is a thrill to help bring music back to Wasaga. Wasaga Beach Blues is going to be a blast," Jackson says.
